Lost or broken Invisalign aligner
A missing or damaged tray is usually manageable, but the correct next step depends on how long it was worn, how the adjacent trays fit and what movements are active.
The plain answer
Call the treating office before improvising the sequence.
The office may advise returning to the previous aligner, moving to the next one, wearing the damaged tray temporarily or ordering a replacement. A small crack in a fully seated tray is different from a split tray that no longer holds shape.
Keep previous aligners until the office confirms they can be discarded. Take clear photos of the tray and how the replacement option fits if the office requests them.

Use the case every time. Napkins, pockets and loose bags account for many avoidable losses and fractures.

Make treatment work in ordinary daily life.
The Live it stage is where outcomes are protected by routine. Aligners must be worn as directed, removed safely, cleaned sensibly and kept away from heat. Tracking problems, lost trays or unexpected discomfort should be reported rather than hidden until the next scheduled visit.
Skipping several stages or forcing the next tray can create poor tracking, attachment problems or uncontrolled movement. A warped tray exposed to heat should not be reshaped at home.

Useful answers before a consultation
Should I move to the next aligner?
Only after guidance from the treating office. The answer depends on wear completed, fit and the planned movement.
Can a cracked aligner still be worn?
Some small cracks may be manageable temporarily, while a distorted or split tray may not deliver the planned force. Ask the office.
Will I be charged for a replacement?
Financial terms vary. The treatment agreement should state the replacement policy.
