Mouthguard
An aligner is not a substitute for a sports mouthguard designed for the activity and changing tooth position.
Invisalign can travel well because it is removable and compact, but replacement trays and clinical support are not instantly available when you are away from Kamloops.
For sport, follow advice about removing aligners and using an appropriate mouthguard. For travel, carry current, previous and next aligners in hand luggage when instructed, along with the case and cleaning supplies. Keep trays away from heat and pets.
Tell the office about extended travel before leaving. Confirm which aligners to bring, what to do after loss or breakage and whether a monitoring visit should be moved.
An aligner is not a substitute for a sports mouthguard designed for the activity and changing tooth position.
The previous aligner can sometimes serve as a temporary holding option, but only the treating office should direct the response.
Checked luggage can be delayed or exposed to temperature extremes, so essential treatment items belong with the patient.
The Live it stage is where outcomes are protected by routine. Aligners must be worn as directed, removed safely, cleaned sensibly and kept away from heat. Tracking problems, lost trays or unexpected discomfort should be reported rather than hidden until the next scheduled visit.
Do not advance through multiple trays to stay on schedule when fit deteriorates abroad. Time-zone changes do not justify shortening the prescribed wear interval.
Follow the treating clinician's and sport mouthguard instructions. Aligners may need to be removed and replaced after the activity.
Ordinary security screening is not expected to be the main risk; heat, loss and being separated from the trays are more practical concerns.
Contact the treating office. Depending on stage and fit, you may be told to use the previous or next tray or arrange replacement.
