Invisalign refinements and additional aligners
A refinement is a revised series of aligners based on progress records. It can improve tracking, complete unresolved movements or refine the bite before retention.
The plain answer
Additional aligners are a clinical tool, not automatic evidence of failure.
Teeth do not always express planned movement exactly. A clinician may take a new scan, compare actual and intended positions, modify attachments, add elastics or revise sequencing. Refinements can be expected in comprehensive treatment and may occur more than once.
Before treatment, confirm how refinement eligibility is defined, how many rounds or what time window is included, what patient cooperation is required and when the result is considered clinically complete.

Attachments, IPR, elastics or sequencing may change because the refinement responds to real movement.

Protect the result with monitoring and long-term retention.
